With to your registry modification, I am now able to use my old (but awesome) GD 0405 R tablet on my Win 7 64-bit box!! I have to use a serial-to-USB converter cable and the 6.10.6 Wacom driver (installed as Win 2000) AND IT WORKS! (However, so far, now I get the odd Visual Basic error, which I just ignore, and oddly, CorelDraw X5 won't open at all, though all of my Adobe and Microsoft apps work. This doesn't derail me, but it would be nice to have Coreldraw functional. No luck finding that solution yet. )

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

mine didn't work ...

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

i am searching too... for windows 7 64 bits... exist...
http://www.vtablet.com/ but i cant work.

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

i have the same, and i have windows 7 64 bits... i need resolve... do you?

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

Hi... i have the same
UD-1212-R i need help, i have windows 7 64bits how you install it?

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

How you can do it please! helpme... i have a ud-1212-r

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

I have finished building the WaxBee converter from serial to USB.

IT WORKS!!!!!

So, if anyone wants his/her tablet to work with Windows 7, this solution may be the one for you!

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

OK I have a UD1218 and a Win 7 64PC. With no Wacom 64bit drivers available I installed VTab. It works but no pressure senstivity (at least in Photoshop 32bit, PS64 hangs on startup)
Consulting with VTab they say its Adobe's bug. The Vtab driver cannot offer pressure with a 32bit prog and the 64bit prog doesn't work!, Even though the tablet manager reports pressure is being received VTab say there is no fix. Adobe won't release code to them and apparently Wacom license theur drivers from them!
This is the case with CS4 and CS5 and for all I know CS6, I cannot afford to try it!
Has anyone come up with a solution? Its a scandal that this isn't fixed and as far as I can see, no guarantee that newer tablets will work properly. Vtab said to me that the situation 'is a mess'!

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

I got the Wacom GD-0912-R working on Windows 7 64 bit via Keyspan Hi-Speed USB Serial Adapter. I previously used a MANHATTAN Data Transfer Cable Adapter,
Although I could see the device in Device Manager, but I couldn't get the driver installed.

After switching to Keyspan, I add the registry key, then installed the driver pro610-6_int.exe under compatibility mode to Win 2000 as admin, then reboot and install the drive again with compatibility to Win Vista. Then it works!

I bought my Keyspan at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/pr...

The serial-to-USB converter makes the difference. I think I have tried all the combinations/configs of settings that comments suggest may make the difference but in my case suspect my plugging the wrong power supply unit in may have bricked(maybe moreso tiled) my ud 0608r. No smoke but the AC instead of DC 12v may inherently not smoke to signal my stupidity. I didnt have it in for long and it shows a orange for power which changes to green when pressing the stlus button or "drawing" with it.

I did get some readings though seemingly erratic in the staus tab from Vtablet but since soon after reloading after trying other things the status and cursor tabs are disabled and inaccessible tabs.

I saw the instructional forum posting elsewhere
http://forum.bongofish.co.u...
on converting to USB and wonder whether an AC voltage "hosing" on the strength of the LED indications might have only attacked the serial communication dept., since the mod allows 5v USB to run device after the mod, the dubious logic being that the 12v circuit internally reduced to a lower voltage for the rest of the device might possibly include some circuitry that filters out the neg voltage as well.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Vista Hacks: Making My Wacom Serial Tablet Work

That would be great!

I still don't want to lose my great ArtPad II!

Today I downloaded VirtualTablet for my new Windows 7 x64 installation but the trial run was very disappointing: Nothing happened.

And right before I came here I just thought about what I should do now...
